Math Insight Roster Upload should be used only by customers who set up schools or districts in DreamBox Math before 7/28/2025. New customers that want an upload option should use Discovery Education Bulk Import.
When you upload a completed Educator or Student/Classroom spreadsheet, the name and order of the columns in your file must match the name and order of the columns on the Educator or Student/Classroom spreadsheet. If the columns on your file are different than the templates, you will see one of two errors after your file is reviewed.
Missing Column(s) Error Overview
Missing Column(s): Make sure the file you upload has the same number of columns as the template file. Learn More. |
If you are seeing the Missing Column(s) error it means one of two things:
- Your file is missing a required column.
- The names of the column headers on your file do not match the names of the column headers on the template so the system cannot confirm that all required columns are present.
| If a column is 'optional', it means that you do not need to add data to the column, but you need to leave the column in your spreadsheet. |
Different Columns From Template Error Overview
If you are seeing the Different Columns From Template error it means one of two things:
- The names of the column headers on your file do not match the names of the column headers on the template.
- Your file is missing a required column.
| If a column is 'optional', it means that you do not need to add data to the column, but you need to leave the column in your spreadsheet. |
Determine the Issue: Is a Required Column Missing or is a Column Header Name Different?
The quickest way to determine this is to download a new copy of the template and compare the template column order and header name to the columns on the spreadsheet you uploaded.
Missing Columns: If any of the following columns are missing, the missing column and data need to be added back into the file in the same order as it appears on the template.
- Student First Name
- Student Last Name
- Gender
- Grade
- Initial Placement
- School Student ID
- DreamBox Math Classroom Name
- School Name
- School City
- School Address
- School Zip
- Primary Teacher Email
- Language
- Username
- Password
Different Column Header Names: If all of the required columns are present but the column header names are slightly different, then the column header names on your file need to be updated to match the exact wording and spacing of the column header names on the template.
Different Column Header Names: If your file contains all required columns and the names in the column headers on your file match the names in the template exactly then there is likely an additional space or period in one of the column headers.
