This article focuses on a rostering process used for partners that set up districts and schools in Math or Reading Park before 7/28/2025.
DreamBox offers three automated rostering options:
Each option syncs with DreamBox nightly, but before you see the updates in DreamBox Math or DreamBox Reading Park they must be reviewed and approved. This is our way of ensuring the updates shared by your IT team will not negatively impact students, staff members, or pre-existing student data. Continue reading to learn more about what kinds of roster data updates trigger a review by our internal team.
What happens when schools, classrooms, students, and staff members are removed from an automated roster update?
If you remove a school, educator, student, or classroom from the data you are sharing with DreamBox via ARM, ClassLink, or Clever, these objects are deactivated in DreamBox. This means if you:
| Stop sharing a student or educator account |
|
| Stop sharing a classroom |
|
| Stop sharing a school |
|
When you add the missing data back to Clever, ClassLink, or your ARM file the school, educator, student, and classroom will re-appear. Students will not lose their progress unless their student ID changes.
| Please plan for the process to reactivate a classroom, student, or staff member that was removed from and then re-added to a nightly roster update to take at least one business day. |
What happens after DreamBox pulls in our nightly roster updates?
Each time DreamBox pulls in a nightly roster update our internal system reviews it. Significant changes that would impact student and teacher access are flagged for review by a member of the Customer Support team.
- The Support Team approves the changes and processes all updates if we are expecting significant changes due to:
- The time of year (back to school or semester transition).
- Proactive communication from your IT team.
- The Support Team will reach out to your district IT team to confirm the changes should be processed if the following is true:
- Your IT team did not communicate that significant rostering changes were coming.
- The changes came outside of the semester change or back-to-school timeframe.
| To minimize any disruption to students, educators, and families the Customer Support team will not process any unexpected and significant roster data changes until we receive approval from the district IT team. This may cause a delay in seeing updated information in the dashboard. |
Why were our roster updates rejected?
If our Customer Support team is not expecting these updates, the following changes to your rosters could flag your updates for additional review and confirmation from your IT team before we pull the changes into Math and/or Reading Park.
|
A roster update may be rejected if it would: |
Why reject vs process the update? | How to proactively prevent update rejection. |
| Delete a school that should have access to Math and/or Reading Park. | All students, teachers, and educators associated with this school would not be able to log in. | Continue to share all schools that should have access to DreamBox Math and/or Reading Park. |
| Delete a large number of classrooms that should have access to Math and/or Reading Park. | All students enrolled in these classrooms would not be able to log in. | Continue to share all classroom sections that should appear in DreamBox Math and/or Reading Park. |
| Delete a large number of students who should have access to Math and/or Reading Park. |
The deleted students would not be able to log in. |
Continue to share all students who should have access to DreamBox Math and/or Reading Park. |
| Delete a large number of teachers or administrators who should have access to Math and/or Reading Park. | The deleted teachers and administrators would not be able to log in. | Continue to share all staff members who should have access to DreamBox Math and/or Reading Park. |
| Update/change a large number of student usernames. | This could negatively impact students' ability to log in. | Reach out to DreamBox Customer Support before sending the update to let them know the change is coming and should be approved. |
| Change student school ID information. | DreamBox uses school student ID numbers to identify each student inside the platform and track their progress in Math and Reading Park. | Reach out to DreamBox Customer Support before sending the update to minimize any impact to student data. |
| Contain a large number of quarantined objects. | A quarantined object is an object (school, classroom, student, teacher, administrator) that the system has blocked from being created, deleted, or updated because the change would affect the integrity of your district roster data. Example: A new student account is quarantined because the student ID shared with the new student is already in use in DreamBox by another student. |
1) Make sure all roster or staff account updates are managed via your rostering method (Clever, ClassLink, or ARM), not manually through the Math dashboard. 2) Continue to share all schools, classrooms, students, and educators that should appear in DreamBox Math and/or Reading Park. |
| Any questionable data changes must be verified by your district IT team before approval. We will not process any changes until approval has been given by IT to minimize any disruption to students, educators, and families. |
