Recommended Time on DreamBox Math
We recommend students complete at least 3-5 lessons per week. Regular lesson completion provides DreamBox Math the information it needs to further personalize learning for each student, recommending the "just-right" lessons to build understanding, and confidence.
| Not all usage is equal. The amount of time students will need to spend on lessons in DreamBox Math will vary, depending on their goals and needs. |
To help students to reach their weekly lesson goals, we recommend setting up multiple sessions of DreamBox Math throughout the week and having students complete at least one or two lessons every time they log in.

When You Start a Lesson, Complete It
Students need to complete lessons for the DreamBox Math Intelligent Adaptive Learning™ technology to continue to accurately "learn the learner" and determine the next best lesson/s for each student. When students stop playing DreamBox Math by closing or exiting the browser before they have finished a lesson, the program will not be able to learn more about what the student understands. This could lead to lesson recommendations that are not appropriately targeted to each students's current understanding.

Mistakes Are OK
Learning is a process. As students work through concepts in DreamBox Math they will make mistakes. These wrong answers help DreamBox Math find the next best lesson for each student to help reinforce concepts they are struggling with and build on their strengths. Instead of shying away from incorrect answers, encourage students to explore and try things, capitalizing on the hints and supports inside lessons.
As students play DreamBox Math lessons, encourage students to:
- Be okay with mistakes. As long as students complete lessons, DreamBox Math will be able to assess their comprehension and adapt.
- Work independently. Helping a student through a lesson can move them beyond their current abilities in DreamBox Math and lead to frustration when working without help.
- Use the lesson tool tutorial before starting a lesson.
- Only use virtual manipulatives. DreamBox Math lessons are designed for students to think through problems without the use of pencil and paper.
- Use the help/hint button when needed.
- Use headphones with the volume on.
