DreamBox administrators can use Insight Roster Upload (IRU) to create and update administrators, teachers, students, and classrooms in bulk. Insight Roster Upload: The Basics
DreamBox Insight Roster Upload (IRU) cannot be used in conjunction with any Single Sign-On (SSO) methods. |
As a DreamBox administrator, you can create and update student, educator, and classroom roster data in by completing and uploading two spreadsheets in the Insight Dashboard:
- Educator spreadsheet
- Student/Classroom spreadsheet
Educator Spreadsheet
Use the Educator spreadsheet to create and adjust staff accounts in bulk:
Create new teachers and administrators. | Assign school or district permissions to an existing teacher account. | ||
Associate teachers and administrators with the correct district and school. | Adjust permissions for an existing administrator account. |
Note: If you are using the Educator spreadsheet to create or adjust a handful of DreamBox Math administrator accounts, you can do this directly in the Educator tab of your dashboard instead of preparing and uploading the Educator spreadsheet. |
Student/Classroom Spreadsheet
Use the student spreadsheet to create and update student accounts, classrooms, and classroom rosters in bulk.
Create new or update existing student accounts. | Create schools and classrooms inside a school. | ||
Add students to and remove students from classroom rosters. | Add teachers to existing classrooms at a school. |
If you are using the Student spreadsheet to create or adjust a handful of students inside an existing classroom, you can do this directly from the Roster tab inside the Teacher Settings tabs in your dashboard. If you want to create a new classroom, you need to use the Student spreadsheet. |

Step 1: Download the Educator and Classroom/Student Templates
If you have not already downloaded the spreadsheet templates from the dashboard, click here to download them at the bottom of this article, and then jump right back to Step 2.
Step 2: Complete the Spreadsheet/s
Depending on what you need to create or adjust in DreamBox, follow the step-by-step directions in the articles linked below:

Before you can connect teachers to a classroom, they need to exist in DreamBox. Add these teachers to your Educator spreadsheet and your Student/Classroom spreadsheet, and then upload the Educator spreadsheet first. |
Step 3: Upload Spreadsheets in the Insight Dashboard
- Log in to your DreamBox Insight Dashboard. Click here for help logging in or resetting your password.
- Click the Settings button at the top of the page.
- Click the Roster Upload tab. *If you don't see the Roster Upload tab in your dashboard, contact your IT administrator to discuss your roster management permissions.
- Click the Choose File button, and then navigate and select the spreadsheet you wish to upload.
- Click the Upload button to upload your spreadsheet. The table shows you the status of your file in real time.

Step 4: Resolve Errors and Warnings and Submit your File
After uploading an Educator or Student/Classroom spreadsheet you may see that the file requires review because it contains errors and/or warnings.
- Errors must be fixed before you can upload and submit the file successfully.
- Warnings highlight file data that may impact student accounts and classroom structure in DreamBox, but they do not need to be resolved before you submit your spreadsheet. Please review each Warning, and either choose to fix it or submit the spreadsheet.
Reviewing Errors and Warnings
There are two ways to view all errors and warnings from the Notes column in the Upload Table.
After you have addressed each error and reviewed each warning, save your file as a CSV and submit your file again.
Please allow up to 2 business days of processing time for your files. We will email you to confirm your files have been processed and your classrooms are active. All new teachers and administrators will receive a welcome email that will allow them to set their passwords and log in to the DreamBox Insight Dashboard. |
