As the new school year begins, the site administrator must complete the School Year Site Reset. This article walks through how to do this in the educator dashboard.
| District administrators can reset multiple sites simultaneously as long as each site shows that it needs to be reset. |
How Do I Know A Site Needs to Be Reset?
There are two notifications in the dashboard that indicate if one or more sites need to be reset.
Home Screen |
Manage Tab |
|
A banner displays across the top of the Home screen. (Click image to enlarge it) |
In addition to the Site Reset banner, each site that needs to be Reset is identified on the Manage > Sites page. (Click image to enlarge it) |
| If either of these notifications are missing and you need to reset your site, reach out to our Customer Support Team before you try to reset your site. |
Which Program Settings Might be Updated During a School Year Site Reset?
After a site (or sites) are resetting, staff members at your site or district may see the following changes:
- All unread Alert messages to educators are cleared.
- If Alert messaging functionality was disabled, it is re-enabled.
- If the InSight assessment or Reading (SeeReader) Holds were disabled, they will both be re-enabled.
- Weekly assignment settings for all students and classes revert to recommended settings, based on students' initial InSight assessment results.
Additional Reset Options & Recommendations
When resetting a site for the new school year you need to determine if you want to perform additional actions during the reset.
Reset Action Options
Remove all Classes and Groups
What happens in the dashboard? |
Why is this helpful? |
| This clears out all classes and groups from the previous school year before you import classes for the new school year. | This prevents teachers from seeing old or duplicate classes when the new school year begins. |
| Do NOT select Remove all Classes and Groups if your site keeps students in the same classes and update class names in the dashboard instead of uploading new classes. |
Assign all students to complete the initial InSight assessment
What happens in the dashboard? |
Why is this helpful? |
| Assigns the initial InSight assessment to all enrolled students. |
|
| If a site does not complete a reset at the beginning of a new school year, staff members will not be able to see the initial InSight assessment (Benchmark) for the new school year. If this is happening at your site, contact our Customer Support Team. |
Increase students' grade level by 1
What happens in the dashboard? |
Why is this helpful? |
|
|
|
If your district or site updates student information through Clever or ClassLink, students' grade levels in Clever or ClassLink will override students' grade levels in Reading Plus. Example: If a student's Reading Plus grade level is set to 1st grade but the student is set as 2nd grade in Clever, the student will update to 2nd grade in Reading Plus during the next Clever data sync. |
Revert students' ReRead value to two
What happens in the dashboard? |
Why is this helpful? |
|
All students' will be able to re-read selections in the SeeReader up to two times.
|
Two is the default re-read value in the dashboard. Setting it back to the default value at the beginning of the year allows teachers to adjust it as needed vs inheriting old settings. |

Allow students flagged for skill remediation to access video and worksheet resources
What happens in the dashboard? |
Why is this helpful? |
| Students flagged by the program as needing extra support will be able to access Reading Plus video and worksheet resources. | This provides students who may be struggling with an additional layer of scaffolding and support. |
Our Reset Action Recommendation
We recommend you select all actions unless your site uses a year-round schedule, rolling enrollment, or has specific reporting needs that would be affected by a site reset.

| Q: My school uses Clever/Classlink to set up rosters - why did the reset remove all students and teachers? |
A: If your site rosters using Clever or Classlink and are resetting your site for a new school year, there may be a period after last year's classes and groups are cleared and it seems like students and teachers are missing. They are not missing - they just haven't been assigned and enrolled in this year's classes. There are two ways to resolve this if your site auto-shares rosters:
- Reach out to our Customer Support Team and request a manual sync the same day
- Wait for the new school year classrooms to appear the next morning after the regular auto-sync.
