What kinds of lessons will educators see in the Lesson Types column?
Students can play three types of lessons in DreamBox Math.
| Exploring & Sense Making | The student becomes more familiar with a concept by exploring a manipulative or model. | |
| Looking for Structure & Relationships | The student builds understanding as they complete tasks that require them to discover mathematical structures, determine relationships, and apply more advanced strategies. | |
| Fluency, Application & Procedural Skills | The student practices skills they have demonstrated they understand to develop fluency and flexibility. |
Playing Lessons
Educators can see and preview one of three example lessons or each lesson associated with the standard and grade level.
Types of Example Lessons
The Example Lessons are part of the lesson group associated with the standard and grade level and give educators a sense of what students may see while playing lessons associated with the standard.
- Just Started Lesson: Introduces a focus area that the student has not previously encountered in DreamBox.
- In-Progress Lesson: Continues a focus area that the student has already made progress in to deepen their understanding.
- Review Lesson: Revisits a focus area that the student has already completed with proficiency.
To Play an Example Lesson:
- Click the Play Lesson button. The preview lesson will open in a new browser tab.

Curriculum Guide FAQs
| Q: If I select an academic standard on the Curriculum Guide home page, will it update the standard I selected on my Reports page? |
A: No. The Curriculum Guide defaults to show the same academic standards that are displayed on educator's Reports page. If you select different academic standards in the Curriculum Guide than what shows on your Reports page, it will not change the academic standards selected on your Reports page.
| Q: What does Max Value indicate for a lesson? |
A: The Max Value for a lesson is the largest number a student could interact with while playing the lesson.
| Q: Why don't I see a Max Value for a lesson? |
A: Some lessons will not show a Max Value because they exclusively introduce spatial and/or visual concepts.
| Q: Can I assign lessons from inside the Curriculum Guide? |
A: Teachers can assign lessons to students in their classrooms from the Curriculum Guide, but administrators cannot. Click here to jump to open directions on how to create assignments from the Curriculum Guide.
| Q: Can I assign lessons to a group inside the Curriculum Guide? |
A: Not at this time.
| Q: Can administrators assign lessons in the Curriculum Guide? |
A: Not at this time. When an administrator selects a standard in the Curriculum Guide they will only see the Lessons tab. Administrators can preview lessons but not assign them.
| Q: How can I provide feedback or ask a question about a lesson? |
A: Reach out to our Customer Support Team.
| Q: When I add up the number of lessons on each tile inside a domain, why is the total different than the lesson total at the top of the page? |
A: The lesson total at the top of the page shows the number of unique lessons across all standards in the selected domain. However, some lessons may be associated with more than one standard in a domain. These lessons will appear on each tile and are the reason the totals o the top of the page or added up by tile may be different.
