This article summarizes best practices and what to avoid when sharing and updating district or school roster information in DreamBox Math using Insight Roster Upload.
Insight Roster Upload Do's
DO: Edit students' first names, last names, usernames, and passwords as needed in the educator dashboard. |

DO: Contact your school or district administrator before attempting to manually add a new student to DreamBox. |
Your school’s process may not include the ability for teachers to manually add new students via the Insight Dashboard.
DO: Follow your school/district guidelines if you need to: |

Add an existing student to your classroom. If permitted, you may copy a student from an existing classroom into your classroom.
Create a new classroom. Follow school/district procedures to request additional DreamBox Math classes as needed.
Insight Roster Upload Don'ts
DON'T: Manually add a new student via the DreamBox Insight Dashboard. |
There is a good chance that the student already exists in the system, and adding them will create a duplicate account. Contact your school/district administration to verify if the student has been or is being added by the district.
DON'T: Create a new account for a student that you know already has access to DreamBox Math. |
If you are unable to locate the student or the student login credentials, contact DreamBox Support.
DON'T: Ignore errors regarding duplicate usernames and/or duplicate student numbers. |
These errors point to an already existing account. Please contact DreamBox Support.

DON'T: Assign students a student ID number you created. |
Student ID numbers should be assigned via the centralized roster upload only to prevent differing number formats.
DON'T: Remove yourself or other teachers from an active classroom. |
This will block the teacher from viewing and potentially accessing DreamBox.
DON'T: Upload a roster for your classroom without coordination with your school administration. |
