DreamBox Math Student Experience: The Arcade (Grades K-2)

The Arcade is a learning incentive space students can open from the Adventure Park.  The Arcade is where students can spend the tokens they earned completing lessons on several DreamBox Math games.

Arcade Basics

Q: Do Arcade games count as played lessons?

A: No. While these games are math-based, they are not tracked as completed content on any dashboard reports. 

 

Q: Does time spent playing games in the Arcade count toward DreamBox Math usage time?

A: Yes.

 

Q: Can teachers restrict students from seeing and accessing the Arcade? 

A: Yes. Click here to learn more about the parameters teachers can set around when students can access the Arcade and how to do this in the educator dashboard. 

 

How Do Students Access and Leave the Arcade?

To access the Arcade, students click the yellow landing platform in front of the Arcade icon. Their avatar will walk inside, and they will see themselves inside the Arcade.

To return to the Adventure park, click the Back arrow. Click the story theme icon to return to the most recent story lesson path the student was playing.

What Games Can Students Play in the Arcade?

Students can choose between three games in the Arcade.

Playing a Game in the Arcade

  • Click the landing pad in front of the game they wish to play.

When the game approval window opens, students hear a description of how to play the game, how many tokens it will cost, and how many tokens they currently have.

If students select:

  • Yes:
    • Students watch as they spend a token on the game before the game window opens.
    • Before they begin the game, they listen to the game directions.
    • When the game directions are done, the game begins.
    • When the game finishes, the window closes and they are taken back to the Arcade to choose another game or leave. 
  • No: The window closes, and the student returns to the Arcade to choose another game or leave.

 

Arcade FAQs

Q: My student/child cannot see the Arcade in the Adventure Park. What is happening?
A: If a student cannot see the Arcade or My House in the Adventure Park, this means their teacher or one of their teachers has restricted access to those features of the Adventure Park.
  • If you are teacher and want your students to be able to access the Arcade, click here to open directions to update this setting.
  • If you are a family member, please reach out to your child's teacher.
