When using DreamBox ARM two-file CSVs to set up accounts, classrooms, and rosters in DreamBox Math, all of your rostering information must be included in your files each time you transmit them. The roster information in your two-file DreamBox ARM CSV files will create:

  • Schools

  • Enrollments

Column Header Row What data should be entered in this cell?
A* Student First Name Type the student’s first name as it should appear in DreamBox Math.
B* Student Last Name Type the student’s last name as it should appear in DreamBox Math.
C Gender Type M or F to indicate the student’s gender. This field can also be left blank.
D* Grade Type the student’s enrolled grade level. Please use 1-12 (0 = K, -1 = PreK).
E Initial Placement Type the grade level that represents where the student should be placed in the DreamBox Math curriculum (i.e. 5th grade Intervention student, working at the 2nd grade level). Please use 1-12 (0 = K, -1 = PreK).
F saml id The ID you have set for your saml ID will need to be added to the saml id column.  If you are not using DreamBox SSO, leave the column blank.
G* School Student ID Type the student’s school ID number. You may substitute an alternate number, but the ID must be unique for each student across the district. DreamBox Math tracks progress using this ID, so this information is essential. Please do not reuse IDs.
H* DreamBox Math Classroom Name The DreamBox Math classroom name is the classroom students will select when logging in to DreamBox. Each classroom name must be unique, especially if an instructor teaches multiple classes and you would like each classroom to remain unique in DreamBox. We suggest using the format “School name – Grade – Teacher Last Name”.
I*-L* School information Type the school name, city, address, and zip code. Use the Excel Drag and Copy or Fill Down functions to save time. The school name should match the exact spelling and capitalization of the school name on the far left column of your Insight Dashboard.
M* Primary Teacher Email Type the email address of the classroom teacher. You can use the Excel Drag and Copy function to save time. If you would like to associate two teachers with the same DreamBox Math Classroom, make sure each of their emails are added as the primary teacher for at least one student in the classroom.
N Language If you would like the student to play DreamBox Math in English, leave this cell blank. Type “Spanish” into this cell if you would like the student to play DreamBox Math in Spanish.
O Username Type the username you would like the student to use when signing into DreamBox Math. Each student username must be unique across the district. If you leave this column blank, DreamBox Math will create usernames based on the students’ first and last name.
P Password Type the password you would like the student to use when signing in to DreamBox Math. Passwords must be at least four characters long and do not have to be unique. If you leave this column blank, DreamBox Math will create four-character passwords for each student. K-2 students will choose their picture passwords the first time they sign in to DreamBox Math.

*required

  • When you have completed the spreadsheet, save it as a Comma-delimited file (.csv). The file must retain the same name, dbl-students.csv, to be processed.

Complete the Teacher Spreadsheet

The data in the teacher spreadsheet maintains and updates existing educator accounts, creates new teachers and administrators, assigns administrative permissions to an existing teacher account, and associates teachers and administrators with the correct district and school.

To complete the Teacher Spreadsheet:

  • Open the teacher spreadsheet (dbl-educators.csv) in Excel. Do not make any changes to the column headers.
  • Fill in the columns of the spreadsheet for each existing educator that exists and that you wish to add to DreamBox Math.
  • Type a “Y or an “N” in the District and School Administrator columns to establish if you want to grant district or school-level administrative permissions to that teacher.

*required

  • When you have completed the spreadsheet, save it as a Comma-delimited file (.csv). The file must retain the same name, dbl-educators.csv, to be processed.
DB-Icons_20221116_1-Color_Constantly learning_50px.png When building your files, use a CSV (comma-separated value) format. Each file must contain a header row. Headers must be named exactly as specified in the templates at the bottom of this page and use line breaks between rows. Field values must be separated by commas. If a field value contains a comma, then the field value itself must be enclosed in double quotes. If a field value contains a double quote, then two double quotes should be substituted ("").

Transmitting Your Files

  • Every time you transmit the student and teacher files, they must contain all schools, educators, classrooms, and students who will be using DreamBox Math. All roster and account changes will be processed during the upload, but the files must be complete each time.
  • If your files contain only updated information rather than all of your schools and rosters, then any object that is no longer included on the files will be deleted in DreamBox.
