The Family Insight Dashboard (sometimes referred to as the Family Dashboard) allows parents and guardians to monitor their student's learning trends, gaps, and growth. It allows them to see at a glance if their student is mastering the concepts and making progress with DreamBox. Detailed activity and proficiency reports help set learning goals and prepare conversations with their student and the student's teacher. This article provides an overview of the two different types of Family Insight Dashboards and walks through the key features in each tab.
There are two types of the Family Insight Dashboard based on how you created your account. This affects what you will be able to see and adjust in the dashboard.
-
School Families: Your student has access to DreamBox through a school subscription. You can monitor student progress, but your student's teacher is the only one who can adjust student settings and assign lessons.
-
Home Subscribers: Your student has access to Dreambox via a subscription you purchased. You can adjust your account settings and assign lessons.

Reports Pane
The Reports Pane is located below the Summary Pane and contains the bulk of information on your student's DreamBox usage and progress. You can also assign specific lessons in this pane. Navigate the Reports Pane by selecting from the Overview, Activity, Standards, Usage, and Assignments tabs. Listed below are the reports and features you can access in the Reports Pane.
Overview Report (First Tab)
The Overview Report provides thorough and illustrated information on your student's usage and progress. To open this report, select Overview in the Reports Pane.
The data displayed in the Overview Report depends on the selected date range. Use the drop-down menu in the top-left to change the date range to Today, the Last 7 Days, the Last 30 Days, or the current or previous school year. The report organizes data into several sections, detailed below.
Is My Student Using DreamBox Enough?
We recommend that students complete 5 or more lessons per week. The top-left section of the Overview shows your student's DreamBox usage for the selected date range, separated by time spent on DreamBox and lessons completed in DreamBox. When the date range is seven days or less, you will see only the total minutes/lessons completed on DreamBox within that time frame. When the date range exceeds seven days, you will also see the average minutes spent on DreamBox per week and the average number of lessons completed per week.
What Is My Student's Proficiency and Growth?
Directly below the usage section of the report, you will find a chart that illustrates the student's proficiency in standards across all grade levels.
The proficiency bars in this chart are based on the student's full up-to-date DreamBox history and are not limited to the date range selected. Each of the colors in the chart indicate past, present, or future student progress in a standard.
- Light Blue: The student's current enrolled grade level is highlighted in light blue.
- White: Standards that are available in DreamBox are white in the chart until the student is placed or begins to show proficiency.
- Light Green: If the student started DreamBox beyond the kindergarten level, some areas will be filled in light-green. These are standards in which the student is presumed proficient and has been Placed based on their current grade level or initial placement.
- Dark Green: Standards in which the student has completed lessons and demonstrated Proficiency will be filled in dark-green. Each column represents a grade level and lists the number of standards the student has met out of the total number of standards supported in the grade level. Each row corresponds to a domain in the regional academic standard.
- Black Arrows: Areas in which the student has demonstrated growth will contain black Growth arrows. These arrows reflect Growth for the chosen date range only.
Note: DreamBox is non-linear. It is normal and expected that students will work in multiple grade levels simultaneously based on their individualized learning path.
What Is My Student Currently Working On?
This section lists the lesson groups that the student worked on over the selected date range (up to the last 30 days). It is organized by the student's status on each lesson group starting with the lesson groups they May Need Attention in, then the ones In Progress, and ending with the lesson groups they were Proficient in over the date range.
Each row includes a description of the lesson group, the total time the student has spent on the lesson group over the selected date range, the number of lessons in the group the student has completed, and a button to try a demo of the lesson. Some lesson groups also include a letter in the Detail column that can be viewed and printed after a student becomes proficient in the lesson group. These letters describe the mathematical concept that the student has mastered in layman's terms and are a great way to share a student's successes with parents.
Alerts
When a student may need attention or is due for a congratulation, you will see an Alerts section notifying you of these behavioral prompts.Growth
This section provides the student's exact Growth statistics over the selected date range.- Standards Met tallies the standards the student has completely demonstrated proficiency in.
- Standards Made Progress In counts the standards the student is working on by playing lessons within associated lesson groups.
- If a student makes progress in a standard and meets the standard, it will only be counted in the Standards Met statistic.
Assignments and Progress Monitoring
If there are no active assignments, you will see a suggestion to create a Long-Term Assignment and monitor the student's progress on the Long-Term Assignment Progress Report.
