DreamBox Math Educator Dashboard: Update an Educator's Role (Administrators)

DreamBox Math school and district administrators may be able to update an educator's DreamBox Math role from the Educator tab in the dashboard. This includes:

  • Make a teacher an administrator.
  • Assign a school administrator to a different or additional school.
  • Remove administrator permissions from an educator.

How Do You Open DreamBox Settings?

Administrators follow different steps to access and update an educator's role based on how their DreamBox Math educator dashboard is configured. The quickest way to determine which directions to follow is to sign into your educator dashboard and check if the Settings icon appears in the top navigation pane. 

In the table below, find the image that matches your dashboard and click the link to jump to the correct instructions.

Settings Icon

Administrators can see the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard.

Drop-Down Menu

 

Administrators cannot see the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard, but when they select in their name in the top right corner of the screen they can see and select DreamBox Settings.

From the Settings Icon: Updating Educator Roles

Support Icons_Tip Box_50px.png If your district uses an automated rostering method (Clever, ClassLink, DreamBox ARM), we recommend you update the educator account via automated roster update.

From the Settings Icon: Opening an Educator Account for Editing

Step 1: Sign in to your Dreambox Math educator dashboard.

Step 2: Open the Educator tab.

  • Select the Settings icon and then select the Educators tab.

Step 3: Confirm you have Edit access in the dashboard.

Depending on your district's roster management settings, you will have Edit or View access in the Educators tab.

  • To determine your access type, open the Educators tab and check the banner near the top of the page. 
  • If the banner shows you have View permissions, you can see educator accounts but not update them.

Step 4: Find the educator

  • Update the School and Role drop-downs to locate the educator account you wish to edit, and then click the Edit button.

Support Icons_Tip Box_50px.png Even if you have editing permissions, you may see that the Edit button is greyed out for specific educators. This indicates that this educator account is being created or edited in our system, and the staff member is temporarily unavailable for editing.

Support Icons_Tip Box_50px.png If your district IT team is sharing this educator via your automated rostering method, the educator role will retain the update you made in the dashboard, even if their role is different in the district rostering files.

 

From the Settings Icon: Making a Teacher a School or District Administrator

Only a DreamBox District administrator can update an educator to be a District administrator.

Need to make a School administrator a District administrator? Follow the directions below and select District Admin as the role. 

To make a teacher a school or district administrator in DreamBox Math:

  • After you have opened the educator's settings for editing, the educator's settings will default to the My Profile tab.
  • In the Role section, click the educator's current role and select School or District Admin from the drop-down list.

  • If you are a district administrator and are updating a teacher to a school administrator, you will be prompted to select a school. Click Add School, select a school from the drop-down list, and then click Add

  • After you have added the new role, click Update to save your changes.

From the Settings Icon: Making an Administrator a Teacher 

Support Icons_Tip Box_50px.png Need to make a District administrator a School administrator? Follow the directions below, select School Admin as the role, and then select a school. 

To remove school or district administrator permissions and make the educator a teacher in DreamBox Math: 

  • After you have opened the educator's settings for editing, the educator's settings will default to the My Profile tab.
  • In the Role section, click the educator's current role and select Teacher from the drop-down list.

  • Click Update to save your changes.

From the Settings Icon: Updating the School Association for a School Administrator

When a school administrator needs to see another school, or be moved from one school to another in DreamBox Math, follow the directions below:

  • After you have opened the educator's settings for editing, the educator's settings will default to the My Profile tab. From the My Profile tab.
To add a school To remove a school To move a school admin from one school to another
  • Click Add School.
  • Select the school the admin needs to move to from the drop-down list. 
  • Click the Add button.

  • Click the trash can icon next to the school the admin should no longer be able to see in DreamBox.

Add the school the school admin should be associated with, and remove the one they should no longer be able to see in DreamBox Math. 

 

 

  • When you are finished with the changes you want to make, click Update.

If your district uses an automated rostering method like Clever or ClassLink, you must update the educator account via automated roster update. Any changes you make in the dashboard will revert when your IT team shares an update with DreamBox. 

Selecting DreamBox Settings: Opening an Educator Account for Editing

If you are able to see and open DreamBox Settings in your DreamBox Math educator dashboard you will update educator roles through your Discovery Education administrator tools. To open these tools from your DreamBox Math dashboard, follow the directions below:

  • Click your name in the top right corner of the page and then select Roster Management

  • Click the Global Nav icon on your Home page, and then select Admin Dashboard.
