Reading Plus Educator Dashboard: How to Adjust Assignments for a Student

After students complete the initial assessment, Reading Plus will recommend assignments to meet each student's needs. This article walks through how teachers can change the amount of Recommended Assignments for a student. 

 

Adjusting Assignments for a Student

  • In the sidebar, click the Students button and select a student from the Students list.

  • From the Student Overview report, click the Settings button.

  • In the Edit Student window, select the Assignments tab, select Use Customized Student Assignments, and enter the number of Reading, Vocabulary, and Visual Skills lessons the student should complete each week.

  • When the number of assignments is correct, click Save.

Assignments and Lessons FAQs

Q: Does Reading Plus recommend assignments based on each student's individual needs?

A: Yes. Selecting Use Customized Student Assignments will set weekly assignments based on what is set for the three instructional programs. 

 

Q: When do students' assignments update in the student dashboard?

A: Students' assignments will update automatically in their dashboards every Sunday night. 

 

Q: How many lessons should students complete during a school year if they are using Reading Plus for intervention?

A: As a general guideline, students using Reading Plus for intervention should complete a total of approximately 100 Reading lessons over the course of an academic year.

 

Q: How is the student goal calculated on the student dashboard

A: Lessons they are assigned, the class calendar, and the primary class

 

Q: Why can't a student see assignment boxes?

A: There are a few reasons a student may not see the assignment boxes on the student dashboard.

  • The student just completed the InSight assessment but the week hasn't finished (assignment boxes will appear the monday after the student completes the assessment.
  •  The assignments were created for a class that was not the student's primary class.
  • Class calendar dates may not be set properly.

Q: How long should it take students to complete a Reading Plus lesson?

A:  The approximate completion times per lesson are:

  • Reading: 15 minutes per lesson
  • Vocabulary: 10 minutes per lesson
  • Visual Skills: 10 minutes per lesson
