Obtaining Your System Information

To help our Customer Support team in troubleshooting your technical issue, we may ask that you get some system information. Follow the system-specific details below to obtain this information. After you have your system details, you’ll send them to us using a secure file-sharing service, which is covered at the end of this article.

Windows

You can generate an MSINFO32 report by completing the following steps.

  1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run menu, or simply open up the search bar in the lower-left corner.

  2. Search for “msinfo32” and open the System Information for Windows.

  3. Once the System Information for Windows is open, click File and then Save. Save the file as “msinfo32_Your School or District Name.nfo” to your desktop.

Mac

You can generate a system information report by completing the following steps.

  1. Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner to open the Apple menu, and then click About this Mac.

  2. At the bottom of this dialog, click the More Info… button.

  3. A new, detailed About this Mac dialog will appear. At the bottom, click the System Report… button. After clicking, the System Information application will appear.

  4. Click File in the menu bar, and then click Save.

  5. When the Save dialog appears, save the file as “systeminfo_Your school or district name.nfo” in the Save As field, and save it to your desktop.

 

iPad

You won’t be able to save a system information report when using an iPad, but you can either take a screenshot or copy the information using the steps below.

  1. Open Settings, tap General, and then tap About.

  2. You need the device’s name, software version, model name, model number, and serial number. To share this information, either take a screenshot to send us or type the system information into a txt file on a computer. You can create a text file on a Mac using TextEdit. If you are using a Windows machine (PC) , use Notepad. Do not send us Word docs.

  3. Save your file using the name “systeminfo_Your school or district name”.

 

Chromebook

You can generate a system information report by completing the following steps.

  1. Open a Google browser session.

  2. In the search window below the Google title,  type “chrome://system”. The Chromebook system information will display in the search window.

  3. Click the Expand all… button so you can see all of the necessary Chrome OS information.

  4. In the upper left corner, click File and then click Save Page As. Please name your page as “systeminfo_Your school or district name” and save it as a .html file.
