DreamBox Math Educator Dashboard: Update Educator's Name (Administrators)

DreamBox Math Administrators may be able to update an educator's first and last names from their DreamBox Math or Disccovery Education (DE) dashboards, depending on their editing permissions and dashboard configuration. This article walks through the different ways an administrator could update a staff member's name.

  • Teachers and some administrators do not have access to the Educators tab.
  • Administrators: If you can't see the Educators tab, you can update staff members' names using an alternate tool. Review the How Do You Open DreamBox Settings section below to see which tools you should use. 

How Do You Open DreamBox Settings?

Educators follow different steps to add or remove teachers from a classroom based on how their DreamBox Math educator dashboard is configured. The quickest way to determine which directions to follow is to sign into your educator dashboard  and check if the Settings icon appears in the top navigation pane.

In the table below, find the image that matches your dashboard and click the link to jump to the correct instructions.

Settings Tab

Administrators access program settings by clicking the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard.

Drop-Down Menu

 

Administrators cannot see the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard. To access program settings, they select their name and then click Roster Management in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard.

Step 1: Sign in to your Dreambox Math educator dashboard.

Step 2: Open the Educator tab.

  • Select the Settings icon and then select the Educators tab.

Step 3: Confirm you have Edit access in the dashboard.

Depending on your district's roster management settings, you will have Edit or View access in the Educators tab.

  • To determine your access type, open the Educators tab and check the banner near the top of the page. 
  • If the banner shows you have View permissions, you can see educator accounts but not update them.

Step 4: Find the educator

  • Update the School and Role drop-downs to locate the educator account you wish to edit, and then click the Edit button.

Support Icons_Tip Box_50px.png Even if you have editing permissions, you may see that the Edit button is greyed out for specific educators. This indicates that this educator account is being created or edited in our system, and the staff member is temporarily unavailable for editing. 

 

Settings Icon: Updating an Educator's First or Last Name

After you have opened the educator's settings for editing, the educator's settings will default to the My Profile tab. To update the first or last name:

  • Click the First or Last name field and type the updates. All updated text appears as green. 
  • When you are satisfied with the changes, click Update.

Selecting Roster Management: Updating an Educator's Name

If your district or school manages your rosters, we recommend you reach out to your school or district IT team and/or DreamBox Math administrator to ask that the educator's name be updated in the Clever or ClassLink files your IT team shares with DreamBox. 

Any manual changes you make in the Discovery Education My Admin or Classroom Manager tools will be eliminated in the next data sync. 

Administrators can update a staff member's name using the My Admin tools in their Discovery Education dashboard. Depending which dashboard you are currently viewing, you will open My Admin in one of two ways:

From the DreamBox Math Educator Dashboard
  • Click your name in the top right corner of the page and then select Roster Management

rFrom the Discovery Education Experience Home Page
  • Click the Global Nav icon on your Home page, and then select Admin Dashboard.

  • When the My Admin page opens, click here to open directions on how to update an educator or staff member's first, middle, or last name.
