Signing in to regularly to review student progress helps teachers identify students who need immediate support and celebrate students' successes. This article walks through how to open student progress alerts from the Home page and review and release Holds, congratulate students who have earned awards, and respond to student messages.
Overview: Monitoring Progress
How often should teachers sign in to Reading Plus and review student progress?
We recommend teachers sign in at least twice per week to learn which students need immediate attention and review student progress.
Which sections of the dashboard should teachers review?
From the Home screen, teachers can open the Alerts page and review which students have been placed On Hold, earned an award, or sent them a message. Teachers can also open the Assignments page to monitor students' Reading, Vocabulary, and Visual Skills assignments.

Reviewing Alerts
From the Alerts page, teachers can review and which students have been placed On Hold, earned an award, or sent them a message.
Opening Alerts
From the Home Screen, click the Alerts tile. The Alerts tile defaults to show the Holds tab.

Holds
The Alerts tile defaults to show the Holds tab. A student can be placed On Hold for comprehension or rate-related reasons. The student cannot continue in Reading lessons until their teacher intervenes.

Awards
From the Awards tab in Alerts, teachers can see which students earned an award, and then print the award or send a message to the student.

Reviewing Assignments
From the Assignments page, teachers can monitor students' Reading, Vocabulary, and Visual Skills assignments, review which students have earned Combos, see Alerts, and send students messages.

Understanding Lesson Color Coding
Visual Skills, Vocabulary, and Reading lessons are color-coded to indicate students' comprehension level on completed assignments. Gray assignments are lessons students still need to complete.
| Green indicates the student completed a Reading lesson at 80%+ comprehension. | |
| Yellow indicates the student completed a Reading lesson with 70-79% comprehension. | |
| Red indicates the student completed a Reading lesson with less than 70% comprehension. | |
| Gray indicates the student has not completed the Reading assignment. |

FAQs
| Q: What does a Combo mean and how do students earn them? |
A: Students earn a Combo by completing two lessons in a row with comprehension at or above 80%. After students earn the individually prescribed number of Combos at their current level, they will Level Up and unlock content in the next higher level.
