You can edit a student's initial placement level from the dashboard before they sign in and begin playing DreamBox Math. This will update their placement in DreamBox Math, not their enrolled (rostered) grade level, or the Grade field.

How Do You Open DreamBox Settings?
Educators follow different steps to access and update students' initial placement based on how their DreamBox Math educator dashboard is configured. The quickest way to determine which directions to follow is to sign into your educator dashboard and check the top navigation pane to see how you open program settings.
In the table below, find the image that matches your dashboard and click the link to jump to the correct instructions.

Update Initial Placement from the Settings Icon

To update the Initial Placement field:
- Sign into your dashboard, select the Settings icon, and then click the Roster tab.
- Use the Classrooms filter to select the classroom you want to view.
- Click the down arrow and select the appropriate grade level.
| If a student has already signed in for the first time, you cannot update their placement in the dashboard and need to contact our Customer Support Team for assistance. We would be happy to help you update the student's placement. |

To update the Initial Placement field:
- Sign into your dashboard, click your name in the upper right corner and select DreamBox Settings.

- When your DreamBox settings tabs open, select Classroom & Student Preferences. To update a student's initial placement:
- Click the Initial Placement drop-down next to a student and select the appropriate grade level. The initial placement row will show the new grade level in green.
- When you have finished your updates, review them and click Update to save your changes.
