DreamBox Math Educator Dashboard: Edit Your Classroom Name and Settings

As a teacher, school-level administrator, or district-level administrator, you may be able to edit the overall classroom settings from your dashboard, including:

  • Changing classroom name
  • Updating classroom grade level
  • Changing classroom Password type
  • Changing what language students see (English or Spanish)
  • Updating Assignment settings (print program & Assessment framework)
  • Adding or removing teachers

How and where you do this depends on the way your DreamBox Math educator dashboard is configured and your editing permissions. 

How Do You Open DreamBox Settings?

Educators adjust classroom settings based on how their DreamBox Math educator dashboard is configured. The quickest way to determine which directions to follow is to open your Math educator dashboard and check if the Settings icon appears in the top navigation pane.

In the table below, find the image that matches your dashboard and click the link to jump to the correct instructions.

Settings Tab

Educators can adjust classroom settings by clicking the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard.

Drop-Down Menu

 

Eductors cannot see the Settings icon in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard. If they are in their DreamBox Math educator dashboard and want to open DreamBox Settings, they select their name and then click DreamBox Settings.

Your DreamBox Math role and dashboard access permissions affect whether you can edit or view a classroom roster.

DreamBox Math administrators see a different set of Settings tabs than teachers. Administrators can see a teacher's Settings tabs, but they need to follow different instructions.

Settings Icon: Opening Classroom Settings and Selecting a Classroom

  • Click the Settings icon in the top navigation pane, select the Class Settings tab, and if needed, select the Class.

Settings Icon: Editing Classroom Name, Grade Level, or Password Type

Open teacher Settings and then the Class Settings tab. To update classroom details:

  • To update Classroom Name: Click inside the Name box and type the new name.

  • To update Grade Level: Click the Grade Level drop-down list and select a different grade level.

  • This changes the grade associated with the classroom. It does not alter individual students' enrolled grade levels or placement. 
  • Selecting "multi-grade" or assigning multiple grade levels to a classroom is not an option.
  • To update Password Type: Click the Password drop-down list and select the new type. You can choose between Picture or Text passwords. 

 

  • All unsaved updates will be displayed in green text. If these are the only changes you want to make, click Update.

Settings Icon: Editing Classroom Language, Print Program, or Assessment

Open teacher Settings and then the Class Settings tab. To update classroom details:

  • To update the Language students will see and hear in DreamBox Math: Click the Language drop-down list and select a language. You can choose between English or Spanish.
  • To update the Assignments Print Program: Click the Print Program drop-down list and select a program.

  • To update the Assignments Assessment Framework: Click the Assessment drop-down list to select or de-select the NWEA assessment framework).

  • All unsaved updates will be displayed in green text. If these are the only changes you want to make, click Update

Settings Icon: Sign in and Select a Classroom

Sign in to your dashboard, click the Settings icon, click the Class Settings tab, and select a classroom if needed.

Settings Icon: Adding a Teacher

  • Scroll to the Teachers section at the bottom of the page, and click Add Teacher.

  • Select the educator you want to add from the drop-down list, and then click the Add button.

  • When you are ready to save your changes, click the Update button.

Settings Icon: Removing a Teacher

  • Scroll to the Teachers section at the bottom of the page and click the Trash can icon next to the educator you want to remove. Repeat this process to remove additional educators (if needed).

From DreamBox Settings: Adjust Classroom Settings and Details

If your district or school manages your rosters, we recommend you reach out to your school or district IT team and/or DreamBox Math administrator to make any changes to classrooms. 

If educators do not see the Settings icon at the top of their DreamBox Math educator dashboard, they edit Math classrooms using their DreamBox Math educator dashboard and Discovery Education tools, depending on what they want to edit. Teachers and administrators often follow different steps to edit classrooms.

DreamBox Settings & Roster Management: Teacher Instructions

Teachers who do not see the Settings icon at the top of their DreamBox Math educator dashboard will update the classroom language, print curriculum program, or aligned assessment in Assignments from the DreamBox Settings tabs in their Math educator dashboard.

  • If your district or school manages your rosters, we recommend you reach out to your school or district IT team and/or DreamBox Math administrator to make any changes to classroom name or grade level. 
  • Updating classroom passwords will not affect students' Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.

Teachers who do not see the Settings icon at the top of their DreamBox Math educator dashboard can edit their classroom name and description or classroom Direct login usernames and passwords from the Classroom Manager in their Discovery Education dashboard.

DreamBox Settings & Roster Management: Administrator Instructions

  • If your district or school manages your rosters, we recommend you reach out to your school or district IT team and/or DreamBox Math administrator to make any changes to classroom name or grade level. 
  • Updating classroom passwords will not affect students' Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.

Administrators who do not see the Settings icon at the top of their DreamBox Math educator dashboard will need to impersonate a teacher from their Discovery Education Experience Home page, open DreamBox Math as the teacher, and then update the classroom settings.

Opening the Discovery Education Experience Home Page

To impersonate a teacher and open their DreamBox Math home page you must first open your Discovery Experience Home Page by either signing in through Discovery Education or opening the Home Page from your DreamBox Math educator dashboard. 

If you have already opened your Experience Home pPage, click here to jump to the next set of instructions. If you are currently viewing your DreamBox Math educator dashboard, follow the below directions. 

  • Click your name and select Roster Management in the drop-down list.

  • When the My Admin page opens, click the Discovery Education logo in the top left corner.

Impersonating a Teacher and Opening DreamBox Math

  • When you have opened the Discovery Education Experience Home page, click here to open directions on how to impersonate a teacher, and then continue following the directions. 

 

  • When the teacher's Experience Home page opens, select DreamBox Math at the top of the teacher's dashboard.

After you have opened DreamBox Math, click an article title to open the directions you need:

  • Update Classroom name and description from their My Admin tools in Discovery Eduction.
