DreamBox Math Educator Dashboard: Edit Student Details

As a teacher, school-level administrator, or district-level administrator in DreamBox Math, you may be able to edit student details from inside the teacher Settings section of your Math dashboard, like:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Grade 
  • Initial Placement (only before initial sign-in)
  • Gender Identity
  • Language (choose English or Spanish)
  • Direct Login username
  • Direct Login text password
  • Direct Login picture password

DreamBox Math Administrators

This article walks through how to update student information in a classroom from the teacher Roster tab inside the teacher Settings. If you are a school or district-level DreamBox Math administrator, click here to learn how to open the teacher Settings tabs.

 

Which Student Details Can I Edit?

Editing student information in your classroom will not change their information if they are enrolled in other classrooms. 

Student Detail Notes
Student first and last names This will not change their names in other classrooms. 
Direct Login usernames

Requires Edit access to the dashboard. Math Single Sign-On (SSO) usernames cannot be edited in the dashboard.

Grade level in your classroom This does not affect their placement in the DreamBox Math curriculum. 
Initial Placement level

Initial placement can only be updated before a student has signed in for the first time.

Direct Login passwords

Choose between English or Spanish.

 

 

Editing Student Details in the Roster Tab

To open your classroom roster in the Settings tab:

  • Click the Settings icon in the top navigation pane, select the Roster tab, and if needed select a classroom in the Classrooms filter.

To edit student information in the classroom roster:

There are multiple fields you can edit inside your classroom roster. To edit student information:

  • Click the field you want to edit and then either type your changes or select an option from the drop-down list.
  • The updated text will turn green until you click the Update button to save your changes.

Note: You can make changes to multiple students at the same time before confirming changes. 

 

Updating Initial Placement

You can edit a student's initial placement level from the dashboard before they sign in and begin playing DreamBox. This will update their placement in DreamBox Math, not their enrolled (rostered) grade level, or the Grade field.

To update the Initial Placement field:

  • Sign into your dashboard, select the Settings icon, and then click the Roster tab.
  • Use the Classrooms filter to select the classroom you want to view.

  • Click the down arrow and select the appropriate grade level.

If a student has already signed in for the first time, you cannot update their placement in the dashboard and need to contact DreamBox Customer Support for assistance. We would be happy to help you update the student's placement.
